The Holy Cross church complex, built by the Vardanyan and Mkrtchyan families, is the first Christian monument in the Sasunik community of Aragatsotn province. The Mother Church of the complex is faithful to the classical traditions of Armenian church building in its architectural style, at the same time it is rich in fresh and original elements, thanks to which the complex claims to become an architecturally unmistakable and unique monument that has no parallel in Armenian church building.
The iconographic sculptures carved with unparalleled skill on the walls of the church present the parables, words and life of the LORD, turning it into a stone Gospel. The complex also includes the Chapel of the Holy Archangels-Candlelight Hall, an open Altar, a winepress, a spiritual and cultural center, which includes a treasury, a library, galleries and an educational center. A unique handmade parchment is also being prepared for the Mother Church Gospel: The chief architect of the complex is the Honored Architect of the Republic of Armenia Artak Ghulyan, and the builder is Hamlet Poghosyan, the builder of numerous churches.
